A domestic pest and romanticised icon, moth and butterfly of the Lepidoptera order live contrasting personas. When one symbolises death and misfortune, while the other freedom and re-birth, could the ethereal facade of the butterfly be an illusion?

With nocturnal imprint, I explore the concept of vision- of black and white, of night and day, of infinity and nothingness- and how reality is merely the subjective perception of truth. By dichotomising the characters and subsequently their worlds, a strong juxtaposition is encapsulated, whereby ‘moth’ represents the extremes, and butterfly all the hues in between- like the limits of our own human vision.
